Hyper-pigmentation can have causes that include a tattoo or medication side effects. Hyperpigmentation can also be caused by sun damage, or other skin injuries, including those related to acne. People with darker skin tones have higher chances to develop hyper pigmentation, especially with due to unprotected sun exposure. Many forms of hyperpigmentation are also caused by abnormal excess of melanin production.
